Treatment Using ESWT

If you happen to be one of the 15% patients suffering from heel spurs or plantar fasciitis that do not respond to conservative treatment, The OrthospecTM  Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) device is the best alternative before considering surgery. The OrthospecTM uses ESWT to focus acoustic (sound) waves on the affected heel tissue, which induces microtrauma. The body then initiates a healing response from it. This healing response activates blood vessel formation to the affected area stimulating growth of healthy tissue over the scar tissue and thickened fascia. The microtrauma essentially stimulates a repair process and relieves the symptoms of plantar fasciitis.

What to expect

The procedure takes about 25 minutes. Most patients return to normal activities the next day. Many patients feel relief the next day but the entire process of creating a new blood supply for the affected area may take between six weeks to three months. It is important to continue your stretching exercises during this critical period.
